"The Bitterroots" Book

"The Bitterroots" is a fascinating and vivid account of five elk hunters and Old Ballard (my hero!) whose truck broke down and became lost and snowed-in in the harsh Bitterroot Mountains of Central Idaho for 40 days in 1945. Miraculously, all survived and emerged from the woods on Thanksgiving Day. This is their story as written by Darrell, one of the hunting party members. Poetry and hand-drawn illustrations are interspersed throughout the book.
